Giovanni Borsotti, Luca De Aliprandini, Filippo Della Vite and Simon Talacci will not train on the Stelvio after returning from Ushuaia. Instead, the four Italians, part of the giant slalom team from the World Cup group, are going to Val Senales (Schnalstal). There they will complete a training block that runs until Thursday, October 1. Italian outlet Neveitalia reported the switch on September 28, calling it a "cambio di programma", a change of plan.

Val Senales instead of the Stelvio

A different plan had been communicated originally. In the hours before the report, FISI had said the group would prepare on the Stelvio after returning from Ushuaia. Instead of the Stelvio, a glacier between South Tyrol and Valtellina, the four are now heading to the Val Senales glacier. Neveitalia describes it as South Tyrol's other glacier. At the time of the report on September 28, it had been open for about ten days. Borsotti, De Aliprandini, Della Vite and Talacci will therefore prepare in Val Senales rather than on the Stelvio until Thursday, October 1.

According to Neveitalia, the Val Senales training block through October 1 includes:

  • Giovanni Borsotti (ITA)
  • Luca De Aliprandini (ITA)
  • Filippo Della Vite (ITA)
  • Simon Talacci (ITA)

Three European Cup racers after a long break

The same report also covers three athletes from the European Cup team: Giada D'Antonio (ITA), Alessia Guerinoni (ITA) and Ambra Pomaré (ITA). All three are recovering from injuries sustained last season. Each of them was out for a long time afterwards.

D'Antonio, Guerinoni and Pomaré were on snow on the Stelvio last week. According to Neveitalia, the one from Bergamo among them had already spent a short spell at Les Deux Alpes over the summer.
