Benno Brandis of Germany won the first of two South American Cup super-G races in La Parva, Chile, on Thursday, beating Sweden's Felix Monsen by just 0.03 seconds. According to Italian outlet Neveitalia, it was the first podium and first victory on the South American circuit for the 20-year-old, who was born in 2006 and won the junior world super-G title in Tarvisio in 2025.

A third German win

Brandis delivered Germany's third victory in La Parva, following Felix Rösle's two downhill wins, according to Neveitalia. Rösle didn't finish the super-G, going out in the final section of the course.

Luis Vogt made it two Germans on the podium. He tied for third with Slovenia's Nejc Naraločnik, both 0.49 seconds behind the winner.

Monsen pipped again

Monsen started with bib 1. He had finished third in the downhills on Tuesday and Wednesday. Neveitalia describes Monsen as a veteran who is training in La Parva with the Austrians, something it says he will do for most of the season.

Further down the men's results:

  • Blaise Giezendanner missed the podium by 0.04 seconds, tied with Estonia's Luik
  • Americans Nelson and Lindenmeyr were just under 0.7 seconds back, as was Fresquet, the second-best Frenchman
  • His compatriot Gamel Seigneur rounded out the top ten

There were no Italian racers in the field.

Nováková wins again

The women raced first, and Barbora Nováková of the Czech Republic won by 0.44 seconds over Haley Cutler of the USA. Argentina's Nicole Begue was third, 1.39 seconds back, giving the same podium as Wednesday's second downhill, which Nováková had also won ahead of Cutler.

Alena Labaštová, also from the Czech Republic, came fourth, 2.84 seconds behind her compatriot. Switzerland's Stoessel, Andorra's Pou Olive and Canada's Fleckenstein were all just over three seconds off the pace.

According to skinews.ch, the two wins put Nováková top of the South American Cup overall standings. Skinews.ch gives her age as 24, while Neveitalia says she was born in 2002. Skinews.ch calls her the Czech Republic's second-best speed specialist after Ester Ledecká.
