Milan-Cortina 2026 Unveils Olympic Truce Wall at Olympic Village

In a powerful display of the Olympic spirit, the organizing committee of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games has unveiled the Olympic Truce Wall at the Olympic Village in Milan. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kirsty Coventry, the President of the International Olympic Committee, and the President of Fondazione Milano Cortina. The Olympic Truce Wall serves as a tangible representation of the ancient Greek tradition of the Olympic Truce, which called for a cessation of all hostilities during the Olympic Games. This tradition dates back to the 9th century BC and was revived by the International Olympic Committee in 1992. The wall, adorned with symbolic dove and olive branch motifs, stands as a powerful reminder of the Olympic values of peace, solidarity, and international cooperation. It is a testament to the enduring spirit of the Games and the organizers' commitment to promoting unity and understanding among nations. "The Olympic Truce Wall is a powerful symbol that embodies the very essence of the Olympic movement," said Kirsty Coventry. "It serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us all that sport has the power to bring people together and transcend political and cultural divides."
