- Operating system
- Referring URL
- Pages visited and time of access
- Date and timestamp of the request
This data is necessary for the technical operation and security of the website. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Server logs are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted.
2.2 Cookies
Our website uses the following types of cookies:
- Essential cookies: Session cookies required for the basic functionality of the website. These do not require consent.
- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics cookies used to understand how visitors use our website. These are only set with your consent.
- Advertising cookies: Cookies set by Publift/Snack Media and managed through the Admiral Consent Management Platform (CMP) for personalized advertising. These are only set with your consent.
You can manage or withdraw your cookie consent at any time through the consent banner or your browser settings.
3. Third-Party Services
3.1 Cloudflare (CDN and Security)
We use Cloudflare, Inc. as a Content Delivery Network (CDN) and for security purposes. Cloudflare may process your IP address and connection data to deliver content and protect against attacks. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. For more information, see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
3.2 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to analyse how visitors use our website. The information generated by the cookie is typically transmitted to a Google server in the USA. We have enabled IP anonymization, so your IP address is truncated within the EU before transmission. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). Analytics data is retained according to Google's data retention policy. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
3.3 Publift / Snack Media (Advertising)
We work with Publift (Snack Media) to display advertisements on our website. These partners may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve personalized ads based on your browsing behavior. Consent for advertising cookies is managed through the Admiral Consent Management Platform (CMP). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).
3.4 X/Twitter Embeds
Our articles may contain embedded posts from X (formerly Twitter). When you view a page with an embedded post, your browser connects to X's servers, which may set cookies and process your data according to X's Privacy Policy. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing relevant social media content).
3.5 YouTube Thumbnails and Wikimedia Commons (Images)
For video previews (e.g. in the “Latest Videos” section) we load thumbnail images directly from YouTube (Google Ireland Limited, server i.ytimg.com). Photos on athlete pages are loaded directly from Wikimedia Commons (Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., server upload.wikimedia.org). When these images are loaded, your browser makes requests to the respective servers, transmitting your IP address and browser data (e.g. browser type, language setting, time of the request). The purpose is to display the thumbnails and photos. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in displaying video and image content). For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and the Wikimedia Foundation’s Privacy Policy.
3.6 Plausible Analytics (cookie-free audience measurement)
For audience measurement we also use Plausible Analytics, which we host ourselves on a Golf Post AG server in Germany (requests go to hits.golfpost.de). Plausible sets no cookies and stores no personal data: your IP address and browser identifier are only used, together with a daily rotating random value, to create an anonymous identifier that can no longer be linked after 24 hours. We record the page viewed, referring page, country, device type and browser in aggregated form. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in analysing the use of our service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
