Michela Moioli celebrated her Olympic bronze medal at Casa Italia in Livigno, surrounded by teammates and family after a dramatic snowboard cross final.

Italy's Michela Moioli added another medal to her impressive collection with a bronze in the women's snowboard cross at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The 29-year-old from Bergamo delivered a gutsy performance despite visible injuries and exhaustion from the demanding competition days.

The celebration at Casa Italia in Livigno showcased the emotional significance of competing on home snow. Moioli, who previously won Olympic gold in PyeongChang 2018 and silver in Beijing 2022, completed her set of Olympic medals with this hard-fought bronze.

Battling Through Injuries for Home Glory

Speaking after her celebration, Moioli revealed the physical toll the competition had taken: "I wanted to bring all of myself, despite the bruises, despite the scratches on my face and the fatigue of recent days. I wanted to have fun, to do well, to do the best I could."

The snowboard cross event is known for its physical nature, with athletes racing head-to-head down a course filled with jumps, berms, and rollers. Moioli's visible injuries testified to the aggressive racing required to reach the podium.

Emotional Home Olympics Experience

Competing at Milano Cortina 2026 provided Moioli with a unique Olympic experience. "It was a heart-stopping race, as always. It was very emotional to have the Italian public, my family. Hosting the Olympics at home is something exceptional," she explained.

The atmosphere at Casa Italia reflected the special nature of home Games, with Moioli surrounded by her support network. "My team is like a second family. They've helped me believe in myself all these years, even when I couldn't do it myself. It's my family that's ready to support me, even when I fall, even when I think I can't make it."

Adding to an Impressive Medal Collection

This bronze medal represents another milestone in Moioli's decorated career. When asked where this medal would go, she smiled: "I think I'll put it next to all the others. Now there's a nice collection between the Olympic ones and the World Championship ones. I need to make some space."

Moioli's medal collection now includes three Olympic medals across three consecutive Games, plus multiple World Championship medals. Her consistency at the highest level of snowboard cross has established her as one of the sport's all-time greats.

The bronze medal holds special significance for Moioli personally. "I dedicate it first and foremost to myself, because I know the work I've done to get here, and few people know what I've been through in recent years," she said, highlighting the dedication required to maintain elite performance over multiple Olympic cycles.
