Nakamura Clinches Overall Title in Rasnov
RASNOV, Romania — Japan's Naoki Nakamura arrived in Transylvania as the runaway favourite to win the 2026 FIS Ski Jumping Summer Grand Prix overall title. He left with it confirmed. Jumping 93 and 96 metres in Saturday's individual competition on the HS97 hill, Nakamura took the win and mathematically sealed the tour championship with two events still remaining on the calendar.
American Jason Colby finished second on Saturday with jumps of 89 and 90.5 metres, while Norway's Kristofer Eriksen Sundal claimed third at 89 and 89.5 metres. Switzerland's Juri Kesseli landed fourth. The result was Nakamura's fifth individual victory of a summer that began at Wisła in early August, where he swept both Polish events, and continued with a double at Courchevel in the Alps. No other competitor came close to matching his consistency across the tour.
On Sunday, Colby flipped the men's script, this time taking top honours with jumps of 91 and 93.5 metres for a total of 244.9 points. Poland's Paweł Wasek was second (92m, 87.5m) and Kazakhstan's Danil Vassilyev third (89m, 91m). Nakamura, already crowned, was content to coast to seventh and save energy for the winter World Cup season.
Historic Double for Twardosz
The women's competition produced its own milestone. Poland's Anna Twardosz became the first Polish woman to win a Summer Grand Prix ski jumping competition on Saturday, soaring 96 and 90 metres to finish clear of the field. Japan's Ringo Miyajima took silver and China's Bing Dong earned bronze — two results that will give both national programmes confidence heading into the World Cup autumn preparation period.
Twardosz did not stop there. On Sunday she swept the weekend with a second victory, confirming herself as the form athlete in the women's field at this stage of the pre-season. The Polish team's women's jump programme has been building steadily, and back-to-back wins in Romania mark a genuine breakthrough for the nation that has long dominated the men's side of the sport.
What Comes Next
The 2026 Summer Grand Prix has one stop left: Klingenthal, Germany, on October 24-25. With the men's overall prize already decided, the focus at the Saxon venue will fall on the women's standings and on individual podium ambitions before the FIS World Cup circuit opens in November. For Nakamura, Rasnov confirmed what his Wisła and Courchevel form had been signalling all summer — he enters the winter season as the world's leading jumper.
France's Enzo Milesi finished eleventh on Saturday and thirty-first on Sunday, just missing the top ten he needed in the first competition. His compatriot Jules Chervet, who was on course for a strong result on Sunday, was disqualified in the final round after reaching fifteenth position at the halfway stage — a costly technicality ahead of a World Cup season that begins in less than two months.
