The Milano Cortina 2026 freestyle aerial course is taking shape as construction crews work to prepare the high-flying venue.

NHK Sports recently captured footage of the venue under construction, showcasing the impressive scale of the aerial jumping facility. The course features a jump that stands approximately 4 meters high, designed to launch athletes at speeds exceeding 60 kilometers per hour.

The aerial discipline is one of the most spectacular events in freestyle skiing, combining technical precision with breathtaking heights. Athletes will soar up to 15 meters above the ground as they perform complex aerial maneuvers during their routines.

Milano Cortina 2026 Venue Development

The construction progress represents another milestone in Italy's preparations for the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Milano Cortina Games will feature venues across northern Italy, with freestyle events being held at purpose-built facilities designed to meet international competition standards.

The aerial course construction demonstrates the engineering challenges involved in creating safe yet spectacular venues for winter sports. The jump structure must be precisely calibrated to provide the optimal takeoff angle and speed for athletes to achieve maximum height while maintaining safety standards.

Freestyle Aerial Competition Format

During competition, athletes will approach the jump at high speed before launching into the air to perform twists, flips, and other aerial maneuvers. Judges score performances based on technical difficulty, execution, and landing quality, making aerial skiing one of the most demanding freestyle disciplines.

The venue preparations are progressing as organizers work toward the February 2026 Games, when the world's best freestyle skiers will compete for Olympic medals on these carefully constructed courses.
