Lou Jeanmonnot won the women's pursuit at the Summer Tour in La Féclaz on Sunday afternoon, crossing the line in 29:00.2. According to Biathlon Live, the Frenchwoman was alone at the front from start to finish. Julia Simon took second, 1:18.7 back, with Océane Michelon third at +1:41.3.
Two misses, never threatened
Jeanmonnot started ahead of Océane Michelon, though the reports differ on the size of her lead: Biathlon Live put it at almost a minute, while ski-nordique.net said around 50 seconds. Anna Gandler did not race on Sunday.
Jeanmonnot cleaned both prone stages and missed one target in each standing stage for 18 out of 20. Ski-nordique.net described the leader of the French team as never under pressure, saying her impressive ski speed shut down every attempt by her pursuers to close the gap.
Biathlon Live wrote of "deux succès" and a perfect first Summer Tour for the big Crystal Globe winner, who will defend her world number one position this winter. The site noted there may not be major lessons to draw more than two months before the season opens, but the wins are always worth having.
Perfect shooting lifts Simon to second
Julia Simon was the only athlete to shoot 20 out of 20 on Sunday, moving up from fifth to second in 30:18.9. Biathlon Live said she is still lacking a little physically. She was 1:16 behind Jeanmonnot in the sprint and 1:18 behind in the pursuit, so she lost two seconds to Jeanmonnot.
