Germany's Sandra Abstreiter to Represent the National Team at 2026 Olympics ## Hometown Hero Earns Spot on Olympic Roster It's official - German ice hockey star Sandra Abstreiter has been selected to represent her country at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The 27-year-old forward will be making her Olympic debut after a standout career with the German national team. Abstreiter, who hails from the small town of Oberaudorf in southern Germany, has been a key player for the DEB (German Ice Hockey Federation) squad for the past five seasons. She led the team in scoring at the 2024 IIHF World Championship, helping Germany earn a surprise bronze medal. "This is a dream come true," said Abstreiter. "To be able to represent Germany at the Olympics in front of my friends and family is an incredible honor. I can't wait to get to the Games and help our team make history." The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina will mark the first time the German women's ice hockey team has qualified for the Olympic tournament since 2014. Abstreiter's selection to the roster is a testament to her skill and leadership on the ice. "Sandra has been the heart and soul of our national team for years," said DEB President Franz Reindl. "Her work ethic and competitive drive are second to none, and we know she will be a difference-maker for us in Italy." With Abstreiter leading the way, Germany will look to make a deep run at the 2026 Olympics and bring home the country's first ever women's ice hockey medal.
