Italian freestyle skier Giovanni Franzoni celebrated his Olympic silver medal at Casa Italia in Livigno, expressing gratitude to his family.

Italian freestyle skier Giovanni Franzoni celebrated his Olympic silver medal at Casa Italia in Livigno, expressing gratitude to his family and team for supporting his journey to the podium.

Fresh from his stunning silver medal performance at the Olympics, Giovanni Franzoni returned to Italian soil to celebrate his achievement at Casa Italia in Livigno. The freestyle skier was visibly emotional as he relived the moments of his historic race in one of Italy's most picturesque mountain settings.

Franzoni's journey to Olympic glory was far from straightforward. The athlete revealed that he had considered quitting the sport before ultimately persevering to reach the podium. His determination paid off in spectacular fashion, as he secured Italy's silver medal in a discipline where success seemed almost impossible just years ago.

Family Support Behind Olympic Success

In his celebration speech at Casa Italia, Franzoni dedicated his medal first and foremost to his mother, crediting her unwavering support throughout his career. "Everything is thanks especially to her," Franzoni said, acknowledging how his mother was always available to take him wherever needed to pursue his dream. He also thanked his father and his brother Alessandro, whom he described as his number one fan, calling the victory "a win for both of us."

The emotional moment at the finish line remains vivid in Franzoni's memory. "When I arrived at the finish and I was second, it was a strange emotion," he recalled. "I wanted to win a medal at all costs." However, knowing that Birk Ruud, whom Franzoni referred to as "the king," was still to come down, he held back his celebration momentarily before the result was confirmed.

Tribute to Team and Comeback from Injury

Beyond his family, Franzoni dedicated his Olympic silver to his teammate Matteo and to everyone who stood by him during difficult times, particularly following an injury. He expressed gratitude to his trainer, his ski technician, and his entire support team, emphasizing the collective effort behind his individual success.

The medal represents a remarkable transformation for the Italian skier. "This year I went from having zero World Cup trophies to having one of the most important ever," Franzoni noted, describing the feeling as incredible. He plans to create a special display case for his Olympic medal, allowing him to look at it whenever he wants and relive those extraordinary moments.

Historic Achievement for Italian Freestyle

Franzoni's silver medal marks a significant milestone for Italian freestyle skiing on the Olympic stage. The celebration at Casa Italia Livigno, with its stunning mountain backdrop, provided the perfect setting for the athlete to share his joy with fellow Team Italy members and supporters.

The medal ceremony replay at Casa Italia proved particularly moving for Franzoni, who described reliving the race moments as "truly beautiful." His message to Italian sports fans was one of continued support: "Greetings to all the friends of ItaliaTeam and keep following us. See you soon."
